<p>I joined the <a href="../../Consortium/">World Wide Web Consortium</a> in
October 2006 and served as its Business Manager until June 2010. My primary
goal was to foster a business and operating environment that was
cost-effective, productive and positive, across all W3C operating locations.</p>

<p>I coordinated financial matters across the Consortium, prepared budget plans
and reports, monitored budget execution, coordinated legal matters, and
supported Membership development. I participated in the <a
href="../domain?domain=Management">Management Team</a> and coordinated the <a
href="/2005/10/Process-20051014/groups.html#invited-expert-wg">Invited Expert
Program</a>. I was also a member of the <a
href="http://www.webfoundation.org/">Web Foundation</a>'s Board of Directors,
representing W3C. My office was located in <a
href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambridge,_Massachusetts">Cambridge</a>, at
the <a href="http://www.csail.mit.edu/index.php">Computer Science and
Artificial Intelligence Laboratory</a>, Massachusetts Institute of Technology,
in a fun building called the <a
href="http://www.csail.mit.edu/news/stata">Stata Center</a>, designed by <a
href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Gehry">Frank Gehry</a>.</p>

<p>Prior to joining W3C I worked for the <a
href="http://www.pucv.cl/">Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso</a> in
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chile">Chile</a>; first as a Project
Manager, and eventually as the Director of Finance for the University. I was
also a lecturer at the Business School for many years, teaching Economics and
Finance to undergrads, and Negotiation at the MBA program. In Boston I have
been a lecturer at <a href="http://www.suffolk.edu/">Suffolk University</a>,
and a guest speaker at the <a href="http://mit.edu/">Massachusetts Institute of
Technology</a>.</p>

<p>I am a <a href="http://www.cies.org/about_fulb.htm">Fulbright Scholar</a>,
and the co-author (with Professor Renzo Devoto, Dean of the Business School) of
<a
href="http://www.euv.cl/publicaciones/series_libros_nuevos/matematicas.htm">Financial
Mathematics: A Decision Making Approach</a>, an introductory finance textbook
published by the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso. I hold a
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the Pontificia Universidad
Catolica de Valparaiso, and a Master's degree in Business Administration from
Suffolk University.</p>

<p>I am married to <a href="http://lanceacupuncture.com/">Heather Lance</a> and
we have a daughter, Camila. We have lived in Chile, China, and France, and we
are currently living in the United States.</p>
