<h1>QA in other standards bodies</h1>
<p>This document is a non-exhaustive list of references to the QA practices in other standards bodies (loosely selected among those <a href="http://www.w3.org/2001/11/StdLiaison">with which W3C has a liaison</a>. It is meant to be a useful tool to compare these practices, see what they have in common and how they differ, in order to improve W3C own quality practices.</p>
<h2 id="id01">IETF</h2>
<p>The IETF has "<a href="http://www.ietf.org/ietf/03jul/coach.txt">started an effort called Comprehensive Approach to Quality (COACH)</a>", with the goals of identifying weak points in its Working Groups processes. This document references other relevant drafts:</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.drizzle.com/~aboba/AAA/draft-loughney-coach-00.txt">A Comprehensive Approach to Quality (COACH)</a> focuses on processes and WG's life, a bit like OpsGL</li>
<li>the <a href="http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2360.txt">Guide for Internet Standards Writers</a> is specifically targeted at specifications writers, in the same field as SpecGL</li>
<li>the <a href="http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1111.txt">Request for Comments on Request for Comments (Instructions to RFC Authors)</a> and the <a href="http://www.ietf.org/ietf/1id-guidelines.txt">Guidelines to Authors of Internet-Drafts</a> are the equivalent of our pubrules and Manual of Style (also the infamous <a href="http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2119.txt">RFC 2119 Keywords definition</a>)</li>
</ul>

<li><a href="http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/305/conformance_requirements-v1.pdf">Conformance TC Specification: Conformance Requirements for Specifications</a>, a precursor to SpecGL</li>
<li>several <a href="http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/">Technical Committees</a> to develop Test Suites, and in the case of ebXML, with 2 separated TC for <a href="http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=ebxml-iic-conform">conformance</a> vs <a href="http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/tc_home.php?wg_abbrev=ebxml-iic-interop">interop testing</a>.</li>
