<p>A reader asked us recently whether there existed a profile to easily combine XHTML and SVG. </p>
<p>The short answer is, <a href="http://www.w3.org/TR/XHTMLplusMathMLplusSVG/">yes, there is</a>. The slightly longer answer is that indeed, in 2002, the W3C SVG and HTML working groups got together to work on a proposed profile that would use the power of XHTML modularization to create a profile combining the XHTML, SVG, and MathML languages. The result was the <a href="http://www.w3.org/TR/XHTMLplusMathMLplusSVG/">XHTML +MathML +SVG Profile W3C Working Draft</a>. Check this <a href="http://www.w3.org/TR/XHTMLplusMathMLplusSVG/sample.xhtml">sample document using XHTML +MathML +SVG</a>, to see if your favorite browser supports the profile.</p>
<p>More recently, and perhaps more interesting, is the current effort called <a href="http://www.w3.org/2004/CDF/"><abbr title="Compound Document Formats">CDF</abbr></a>, which has developed a framework for compound documents, as well as a few profiles. A majority of these <a href="http://www.w3.org/2004/CDF/#documents">specifications</a> are currently in the <em>Last Call</em> phase, where comments are most welcome.</p>

<p>Hello,
first of all, I would like if someone could explain what is SVG? I'm new in web design and I've just completed Macromedia Dreamweaver course. It goes in your working licence. I know html but xhtml???Only few tags as <br /> and ... If you can post a link with tutorials about xhtml for begginers I would appreciate it...
