<h1><a href="http://www.w3.org/2005/Incubator/geo/">Geospatial XG</a>
Workshop</h1>

<h2>17 Nov 2006</h2>

<h2><a name="attendees" id="attendees">Invitation:</a></h2>

<h3><p><em>Weaving a Fabric for the Geospatial Web</em></p>
</h3>

<p>The purpose of this workshop is to solicit input and feedback on carrying
out the objectives of the W3C Geospatial Incubator Group (Geospatial XG) .
These objectives center on leveraging existing and new W3C standards to
enrich the Web with geospatial knowledge. The objectives also face a
challenge of connecting the expertise and expectations of two communities,
the Semantic Web community and the Geospatial Web community.</p>

<p>Workshop invitees represent one, other, or both communities in the Boston
area with interests in developing the common ground between them.This
workshop will do two things. First, it provides an introduction to the ways
standards organizations are looking at geographic information and services on
the Web. And second, it offers a forum to discuss how standards and research
in this area should inform one another, particularly in the
Cambridge-Harvard-MIT context.</p>
